In any organization that is growing there is always going to be room for more people to be a part of that organization. But when you serve in the church you’re not serving in an organization, you’re serving in an organism. The church is living and alive and making a difference in the lives of people in the name of Christ. God has given each of us passions, talents, and experiences that make us into the person we are and we are called to use these things to serve in his church. I love the way Paul verbalized this call in 1 Peter 4:10-11.

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.

The art of serving is simply to serve unselfishly and with all our hearts. This isn’t a call for some. It’s a call for all. Can you imagine if every person in the church realized their talent and passion and plugged serving how much ministry the church could accomplish for the glory of Christ. Imagine thousands of people mobilized in their gifts for the sake of the Gospel. Not just serving inside the church, but taking our heart for serving out into the world and serving in Jesus name in all we do.
