“So many worlds, so much to do, so little done, such things to be.” – Alfred, Lord Tennyson
It’s an exciting time to be at Northstar Church. There is an energy here that is not always easy to describe. God is doing some wonderful things in us and through us, and what we have seen and experienced at Northstar affirms that Jesus is alive and that His church is poised to impact the world. But, that requires me to ask two simple questions. Is Northstar doing enough? Does God have greater challenges for us as a church? I believe the answer is no and yes. I believe God wants us to be better connected to the world and be a bigger part of the global movement our Savior is building across the earth.
So, here’s a question: What would it look like for us to experience a breakthrough? What would it look like for not just hundreds of us, but for thousands of us to really embrace the idea that God wants to do something so large through us that we would impact this community, this region, and this world for Christ’s sake? What would it look like if we practiced Bold Love? What would it look like for us to experience radical change in our lives and in our church over the next three or more years that would foster radical transformation and blessings in the lives of people across this city and around our world?
Bold Love is a three-year initiative to transform our ministry and our lives. Through Bold Love, we are calling on Northstar members and regular attenders to invest unprecedented levels of energy, resources and faith in our ministry and several bold vision steps that will move us toward God’s dream here on earth. Over the last two weeks, I have been challenging our church to take a big step forward. And, I have been challenging each and every one of you to consider what it would mean for you to become a part of this critical church initiative.
Jesus taught us to pray for God’s Kingdom to come and God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. There are many ways to rephrase that prayer in modern language, but one way is to pray that all of God’s dreams and plans for us come true.
I want to challenge you to take some bold steps forward as we join with God in pursuing some big dreams. Bold Love is about going on a journey with God that will not only impact the lives of people in our community for years to come, but it’s about God changing our lives as well. To accomplish this, I want to make sure you have all the information you need, and that all your questions are answered. So, I am using this blog to support the ongoing communications on Bold Love over the next few weeks leading up to November 18th.
I encourage you to visit this blog over the next two weeks. I will break Bold Love down into three categories and attach the numbers to each. Those three categories are:
Bold Love around the world: where we become the presence of Christ and where, through us, God can provide radical transformation to areas in every part of the globe.
Bold Love for greater Panama City: Through Bold Love, we will improve and increase our efforts to serve families and individuals of all ages through innovative outreach satellite church programs.
Bold Love for our church community: Through Bold Love, we will strengthen and improve our ability to serve our own faith family through worship, spiritual formation, and the community-based efforts of our ministry.
In addition, I will provide you with some background on the satellite concept as well as what makes a quality church in the future. I will also provide a FAQ on Bold Love.
