Confused. I will explain CEOs in just a second.

Recently, I’ve seen a good number of articles and blog posts about why people are no longer attending church or why they made the decision not to attend church in the first place. Most of those reasons revolve around myths, perceptions or slights, either real or imagined. The most prevalent reason for not attending is they see or hear about hypocrites in the church. That means that the church is not being real, so all aspects of the church have little or no meaning. Others do not attend church because they think church doctrine is out-of-date or they don’t think they can meet the church’s expectations.

Which brings us to Easter. Many of the people that have reasons for not attending or stop attending church are CEOs. (Christmas Easter Only)  CEOs give us two days to change their perceptions and counter any negative experiences about Christianity and the church. For people who are not regular church goers, it is an opportunity for people to hear the saving message of Jesus Christ. I do not want to miss this opportunity regardless of any logistics or overcrowding problem.

The CEOs will come to the Easter services because of you. In you they see a person who is enjoying life, makes good decisions and is open and about having a relationship with God. Inevitably they will start to wonder, “what is that all about?” They see in you a person who has strange ideas about loving God and loving people. They see a person who is kind, patient, and giving.

You are the best Easter marketing for Northstar. So invite the people who don’t attend church or the CEOs to one of our Northstar Easter services. They are probably curious about what goes on in our church. They will come to see what makes you tick. And when they come they will walk away with a different perspective of the church, and hopefully a better understanding of what makes you tick.

So invite as many people as you can. Maybe they have never been in a church building before. Maybe it’s been a long time. They could stay away from church for any of a hundred little reasons, or maybe just for one really big reason; no one has taken the initiative and asked them. This is an opportunity to change their perceptions and maybe their eternity.
