Around 8 months ago, God began challenging me to dream bigger dreams. I felt that God was calling me to enlarge my thinking. To think beyond my comfort zone in order to reach more people. Firmly believing that if God is involved, nothing is impossible, is critically important, because it determines how you pray, and how you pray determines who you become. The Callaway satellite campus is a product of dreaming bigger dreams.
After months of prayer and counseling, we announced that we were going to multiply, beginning with one satellite campus. Our desire is to be a church that continues to multiply itself by starting new churches. Jesus said it this way: “…you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8.
Think about how exciting this will be: One day, you’ll have a friend or family member move to the greater Panama City area, and you’ll be able to invite them to our church, even though you may live 30 minutes away from them. We’ll be the same church, with the same excellence in Worship, Children’s Ministry, Creativity, and Messages – just in different locations. Ok, I am getting a little ahead of myself. The truth is, the more I think and pray about it, the more excited I get.
We are now just 52 days from the opening of our a new campus in Callaway. We are focused and thrilled at the same time. We’ve reached the part where we are planning the details of how we’re going to accomplish that vision, which is why I’m writing to you today. We need the help of everyone who attends Northstar to accomplish the vision for Callaway. But, more than that, I’m inviting you to share this journey with us.
There are several ways you can contribute.
First, I ask for your prayers. While we have made our plans and believe we are prepared, we know that all of that will amount to nothing without the power of the Holy Spirit. We ask that you pray for the Callaway campus. Pray that God will do something significant in the Callaway area. Pray that we will be challenged to accommodate all the people God is sending our way. Pray that His will be done. Prayer is powerful and effective and we need your prayers as we begin this next chapter in the life of Northstar Church.
Secondly, generate some dialogue and thus help our outreach efforts. We believe inherently that the purpose of Northstar Church is to love God and love people so that they may find and follow Jesus. If you know people whom we should know, please introduce us. Tell people you know in the Callaway/Springfield area about the new campus. Introduce them to our church. These one to one connections are so critical because of the opportunity it represents. People may never hear the saving message of Jesus Christ unless we specifically invite them.
Thirdly, I ask that you partner with us. I ask that you prayerfully consider a one-time gift to the launch of Callaway. These one-time gifts will be crucial to getting our new campus to a place of self-sustaining maturity. If you can give, if you’ve thought and prayed it through, and God has led you to do so, please make a one-time gift to help us in the relocation and initial setup of our new campus. By investing in our new campus, you’re helping launch a new church that will be passionate about reaching the people in that area who currently do not attend church. You’ll also be helping us to build a multiplying church that, from day one, will attempt to plant other churches.
We exist as a church to help the whole world find and follow Jesus. Everything we do is about that one simple truth. I believe with all of my heart that this is the start of something big… something bigger than we can even imagine. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be adding posts on the Northstar Community blog about what this means and what it looks like for us as a church. I will try to answer your questions, and explain the process.
For now, I encourage you to believe God has bigger plans for our church than we can even begin to imagine and dream bigger dreams with us. I love you all and I am excited to start this journey with you.
